interests : Veteran bluesman Dan Treanor has been entertaining and thrilling audiences for over thirty five years. Dan has played with Son Seals, Louisiana Red, George "Boogie Man" Daniels, and most recently Frankie Lee. Dan is considered one of the top blues harp players in the business and has been a Hohner Harmonica endorsee for the last ten years. He also plays the guitar, dobro, bass, keyboards, diddley bow and African string instruments.
Ten years ago Dan started the Blues In the Schools program for the Colorado Blues Society. He has presented this unique and entertaining program to over 30000 kids. A few years back Dan started to hand build African string instruments. Orginally these instruments were to be used in the Blues In The Schools program but they quickly made their way into his live blues show. A new and exciting style of blues emerged and blossomed into the music Dan makes today. Afro beats, African string instruments, Delta Blues grooves, lots of harp, guitar and soulful vocals.
In the late summer of 2003 Dan teamed up with R&B legend Frankie Lee to do a series of concerts in the Rocky Mountain region. Dan exposed Frankie to his music and they decided to go into the studio and create a CD. In April of 2004 at the W.C. Handy Awards, Dan and Frankie were signed by one of the top blues labels in the world - Northern Blues. The CD -"African Wind" - was released in October of 2004 and has been a hugh success since. The sound they have created is stripped down blues with a African feel that touches on a bare-bones, Delta/North Mississippi hill country, raunchy style.
