Try a few pints of Owd Roger (7% a.b.v.) and see if that don't put you in the mood to boogie!

I will drink Owd Roger whenever I get to the the UK. (z!)

QUOTE (dick deluxe @ November 05, 2009 02:07 pm)
We had Hendrix, Mike Bloomfield, Jerry Miller, Carlos Santana, Duane Allman, Roy Buchanon, Terry Haggardy, Terry Kath, the cupboard wasn't totally bare......!!!!!!!

B) True, but a lot of those guys came about because of Clapton (that's what Carlos said). Hendrix had to go to the UK to get his mojo, and so I consider him mainly as a Brit. Roy was doing his thing all along, and guys like Duane and Terry Kath came along later.

I'm not saying that there weren't any good players in the States back then. In fact, in San Francisco, there was a guitar player in the early 60s in a band called Les Welch & The Preludes that played in North Beach before it became topless. I've forgotton the guys name, but he was the local hero to us teen age wannabe guitarists way back when.

As far as rock'n'roll goes, it was the Brits that led the way, and I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for the Union Jack. [{::]

Let's not forget Robbie Robertson when he was in the Hawks. Many of us old timers remember those days! He was one smokin' guitar player!

If my memory isn't playing tricks on me, I believe Robbie's a native Canadian. Of course, Canada is connected to the United States, but don't ever tell a Canadian they're North American. ;)

Too true, blueswriter, from a Canadian Red Sox (oh yea Yaz), Bruin, (number 4 Bobby Orr) fan. (z!)
